Children’s Book Bin

I made a children’s book bin for Ekrubynaffit’s  Maple Valley Historic Library on MTS. Originally, it was only shared through our  Sims 2 FB group or on her lot, but, now, here it is for you, too!

What I Did

I modified the mesh and UV maps of NoFrills Toybox and made it pure deco so that it no longer functions as a toybox. Then, I made an addon to Mira’s Nolen books: four sets of books that can be easily placed without cheats or OMSPs into my empty box. You don’t need cheats, but if you turn snap off, you can place them in more varied ways. Everything is also quarter-tile enabled. Per usual, my deco is in Sculptures for $44.

I repositoried my books to Mira’s so you can use recolors for those. The books in Maple Valley’s library use BigBadBunny’s recolors, I think.

Then, I added a functional bookstack to match my deco ones, cloned from Minsims’s functional version of Mira’s books. If you want my bin of books to be functional, find my functional bookstack in Hobbies and replace my SE corner deco books with that one.

What You Need

The only other file you actually need to make this work is Mira’s main mesh for the repository so, for convenience, I’ve included that in the download. If you already use Mira’s Nolen books, you don’t want two of those so delete mine. Otherwise, you can add whatever recolors you want and you’re good to go.

Future Updates and Alternatives

This was one of those creations that could have been approached in a number of ways, and I will likely make alternate versions, particularly one that only uses one file for everything because I like efficiency and economy in my own game, so check back every now and then if you like.
