Pleasanter View Neighborhood Bridge

Pleasantview ought to have a great view, right? Then, how come, when we enter a lot, the iconic bridge turns into a gaping hole? Yeah, I didn’t get it either, so I fixed it!

How? What is this?

This is a brand new mesh made from the fifteen or so little bridge pieces that the game uses to generate neighborhood bridges to fit any terrain. Normally, we cannot clone the generated bridges, and they are not visible in lot view. My new hood deco bridge is made to fit exactly the space for the Pleasantview Bridge and to look just like it in hood view while also being visible from inside your lots. I have other sizes and shapes, including a medieval version of this one and a look a-like for the Sedona bridge to share as well.

There are a couple of ways to incorporate my Pleasanter View Bridge into a Pleasantview you are already playing, but either way, you need to download the bridge, unzip and drop in Downloads. It will be in your neighborhood deco under landmarks.

Method 1: The Easy-Peasy “I don’t want to move anything in my hood” Bridge

If you can’t or don’t want to use Hood Replace to change anything in your current Pleasantview, you can simply plop my new Pleasanter View bridge right on top of the old game-generated one. It will fit nicely and be visible from your lots without you changing any roads or deleting your old game-generated bridge.

For easiest placement, start with the grabby part of the bridge on the far side of the river, the side away from town. Line up the posts on the bridge, then check alignment of your roads with the top of the bridge. The top of my bridge will pick up your default road texture.

If your hood camera won’t let you see what you want to, try my camera for this. You can always change it back after your bridge is placed.

Method 2: The DIY “I can use Hood Replace like a boss, and I don’t want that silly ol’ generated bridge” Bridge

If you don’t want the generated bridge under my Pleasanter View Bridge, you can use Hood Replace to delete the generated bridge, but wait…. Since the PV terrain was adjusted after the terrain was made, just deleting the bridge leaves a small gap between the road and my bridge. No worries! We’re going to fix that easily.

Here you have the original PV terrain with my small adjustment to the road by the bridge, so now, there’s no gap. (I’ve also adjusted the roads to continue to the edge of the terrain because I think that a U-turn before the edge looks dumb.)

Create a new hood with my terrain, then use Hood Replace as shown to replace the roads and delete the game-generated bridge. For the vanilla PV lots and deco, you should not need any other adjustments. Place the Pleasanter View Bridge in hood deco mode as you normally would. Again, grab the bridge and place from the far side, lining up the road on the bridge with the regular game road. The bridge will pick up your road defaults.

Updated 11/10/2020: Pleasanter View Bridge in Stone

Here is a new version of the Pleasantview-sized Pleasanter View Bridge – a stone version, great for historical hoods.

This version has a new UV map and new textures. Since many historical hoods use dirt roads, I did not make this stone bridge pick up road defaults. It has a stone road across it. I would not try to plop this one on top of the regular PV bridge, because the textures will have some visible z-fighting, so use method 2 above for this one.

In case you’d like to make your own terrain with either Pleasantview-sized bridge, it takes up 13 SC4 tiles. If you share new terrains that use any of my bridges, I’d love to see them!

Watch for more terrains and more sizes of Pleasanter View Bridges coming soon!

I’ve had a request for the decorated terrain in this pic, so here it is. Place my bridge in Downloads before loading it. Use Hood Replace to copy terrain, roads, deco, and trees to a regular PV as above.
