Larger, Growing Oleander

I needed a larger shrub for my playhouse lot and really wanted more variety in sizes so it would look a bit more natural.

I have one of corvidophile’s larger oleanders. I use it, as in the pic, along with the original for variety, but I realized when my sim started critiquing it that it was a sculpture rather than a plant.

Windkeeper also made a “plastic” larger oleander, but I really love the gardening part of the game, so when I decided I needed a medium one, too, I used my brand new baby blender skills to make a larger, growing oleander.

The original is on the left, second is my trimmed oleander, third is mine overgrown, and, finally, corvidophile’s for comparison.

Since it’s a “real” plant, it has the trimmed and overgrown state. [EDIT: I totally forgot about the snow/winter state because I don’t play my hoods with different seasons. I’ll put that on the list of things I need to learn!]

I’ve positioned the bush off center toward the front of its tile so that it places easily without cutting into the wall or overlapping the sidewalk.

UPDATE EDIT: When I first uploaded this, I had it RP2MX (repositoried to the Maxis oleander), but, it turns out, using the repository technique on the overgrown state is a little tricky. To make the bush stable, I’ve removed that feature and I’ve now included my two recolors in the package as well as separate RC for the Maxis oleander, in case you want them to match. [If you downloaded those earlier, you don’t need the ones included here – they are the same.] The RC are a peach and a yellow that I’ve seen on real oleander bushes. I will probably make more over time. The object is found in the garden center with other shrubs.

UPDATIER: I have now learned how to make a snow state and, my goodness, that’s a job! While a growing shrub like this can get by with 2 states, the snow version would need, at least, 6, and the Maxis ones that also have different meshes for hood view have 12! That’s like making 12 separate objects just for one shrub. Hats off to creators who do those! I’m still working out the most efficient process for me to do it, so I may make those later. However, since I don’t use these bushes in a hood that has winter, and I have lots of other WIPs right now, I’m putting “Operation Bush Snow” on the back burner for now. If anyone cares to use my meshes to make snow versions sooner, feel free and please share!
